NOKIA UNVEILS LOW BUDGET AND AFFORDABLE ANDROID SMARTPHONES
The long awaited time was over. The Finnish mobile manufacturer finally unveiled a Phone that runs on Google's Android Operating System at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona.
Many consumers have wished to have Nokia manufacture an Android device despite it's ties to Microsoft that are yet to grow stronger when Microsoft will totally own Nokia. Many critics pointed it out that Nokia didn't make the best decision to solely attach itself to Microsoft. With all the effort Nokia has put into the partnership, the world has seen the best Phones hit the market that run on Microsoft's own Windows Phone OS.
Despite Nokia's endeavor, consumers have remained dissatisfied because the largest market actually desires Google's Android OS in their handsets and many mobile manufacturer except Nokia had taken that course.
Just before the deal between Microsoft and Nokia is sealed, Nokia has heard it's consumer's cry and responded positively. Today Nokia has a new line of Android Smartphones namely; Nokia X (Also known as Normandy) that has been rumored for months.
On addiction to that, Nokia unveiled a two other surprising models: Nokia X+ and Nokia XL.
All these three Device are low-end Android phones going at £89, £99 and £109 respectively that are aimed to target low-end consumers and more so compete with Chinese Mobile manufacturers for example Huawei and ZTE.
These devices are not like any other Android devices on market. This is so because they are not closely attached to Google much as the OS they run is based on Google's own Android OS. They run a modified ("forked") version of Google's Android 4.1 Jellybean OS. Their OS design and modification is a combination of the Windows Phone User Interface, Asha functionality and Android the OS itself. They were designed to run Android Applications of course.
Also to note, the three devices don't come with Google Apps but come with the most famous Android applications pre-installed for example Facebook, Twitter, Skype... etc. They also allowed side-loading apps from unknown sources just like any Android phone. A third-party Android App Store called Yandex Store is brought on board instead of Google's famous Play Store.
We take a quick look at the specifications of the very first Nokia Android Device; The Nokia X.
